First recipe review

Hi it's Helen,
As part of our blog I am going to be testing out some recipes and giving my feed back... YUM !
Starting with the Lemon and Poppy seed Cake from the hummingbird bakery cookbook.

I definitely recommend this recipe as an easy cake to whip for afternoon tea and a delicious desert.
However, the first time I followed this recipe it was a bit of a challenge. Firstly I did not have the correct cake tin and had to make do with a standard holeless one instead. This meant I ended up with a thick slab of cake. So the next time I cooked the lemon and poppy seed cake I also made four muffins from the same amount of mixture.
Secondly, another suggestion I have is to use less lemon juice in the lemon icing as it was far to runny and slipped of the cake.
Apart from those few hiccups the cake was FAB !
I GIVE THIS 7H's

Watch out for more of our reviews from the hummingbird bakery cookbook.

Getting Started !

Hi , it's Hannah here.
The idea for this blog came about over a cup of tea and a toffee waffle at my house. Whilst catching up on each others summer's we decided to embark on something new. We thought, where better to start than recommending the toffee waffles that we were munching on at the time! So why are we so keen on these Tregroes Toffee Waffles from Waitrose? Not only are they absolutely delicious with their chewy toffee centre and their crispy waffly outer layer , but they are so practical to whip out of the cupboard for a coffee morning or a tea break...  hope you enjoy this and give these cute little waffleys a try .... WE GIVE THESE 10 H's
